A Historic Brick & Mortar Renovation
Circa 1864

Historic Renovation

Leaving things better than we found them ...

… and while we didn’t plan on restoring this old girl, the laundry room was in the basement and for obvious reasons – some unexplained – the laundry room really, really, really needed to be in the residence upstairs.

We researched the architectural style of 1864 and convinced ourselves that the original design was at the tail end of Neoclassicism with a touch of Victorian.

Neoclassicism had a nice ring to it … Victorian wasn’t going to happen.  After days of research and deliberation, we settled on kind of an Arts & Crafts style, with a hint of Frank Lloyd Wright to update – not take away from – the original design.

Our beloved 5000 sq foot historic building – that I cleaned for 11 years – was sold in February 2018. We’ve since moved to the north woods, renovated a 1952 Bungalow and lived to tell about it. 🙂
