Natural Bug Spray

Forest Experiment | Natural Bug Spray for Spiders and Ants

The huge spiders – around the backdoor – inspired me to mix up a batch of a natural bug spray – with peppermint oil – that I was always reading about. Filled a 16 oz spray bottle with water and 15 drops of peppermint essential oil. You can add more peppermint oil but it doesn’t take much to establish a peppermint scent. The natural bug spray worked best as a daily training exercise – for over a week – when I started to see fewer and fewer daddy long legs at the door. Either that or the birds ate them. 🙂 Peppermint bug spray works for ants too. Keep sprays away from kids, pets and items that shouldn’t be sprayed with water and oil. Shake before using.

When we needed a natural ant spray – on the road, in confined quarters, with two dogs – I tried a simple vinegar + water mixture and ant traps. I can’t stand the smell of vinegar but it evaporates fast, worked to help minimize an ant army and cleaned the toilet bowl too. Fill a 16 oz spray bottle with 3/4 water & 1/4 vinegar. Keep sprays away from kids, pets and items that shouldn’t be sprayed with vinegar and water. Shake before using.
